In the year 3017, the MechWarrior, Colonel Joseph T. Ragen, had been
working to destroy the Dark Wing Lance. At night, after agreeing they
would then lie low for 10 years, the members of the Dark Wing Lance
attacked and killed Ragen and all his family except his son,
Herras.Herras grows up to become a freelance MechWarrior determined to
find the Dark Wing Lance and take revenge on them.It is now the year
3027 and Herras is on the planet Galatea.
Graphics [8/10]:
The Graphics are really good. As always I like the explosions, and the
enemy Mechs look pretty good too. The landscapes that you fight on are
nice and big, even if you can't go to the furthest reaches of them.
Music & Sound [7/10]:
The music isn't that bad, but I like the sounds better. The music for
the things on the main menu is alright but the music when you're
battling is better. There aren't many sounds on the main menu. The sounds
when battling are very fitting, sounds for the different guns, your
jetpacks and explosions.
Game Play [9/10]:
The gameplay is excellent! The controls are easy to learn and
responsive (but I reccomend reading the manual, otherwise it's quite hard for you
to get started). First you are at the main Galatea menu then it's up to
you, you can go into Club Zero-Zero or just get a contract and go to
battle. Although sometimes the missions can be quite hard, they're still
fun to play (well, for me, anyway). The only reason I didn't give this
10 is that there's no 2-player mode.
Challenge & Replay [8/10]:
This game is fairly challenging but not so hard that it's no fun. You'll
want to replay it frequently even if you have trouble beating a certain
level (like me).Whether you're trying to beat the game or just mucking
around, this game is lots of fun to play.
Conclussion/Overall [9/10]:
My cousin said "Get MechWarrior 2 if you see it" (but MechWarrior 2
isn't on SNES) so I just got MechWarrior and when my cousin played it,
it turned out to be the game he'd been talking about.I always thought
there should be a good shooter for the SNES and this is that - and so
much more.Put simply, if you see this game, get it.
